Chimney Inspection

A chimney inspection is an essential service for maintaining the safety, efficiency, and overall health of your home’s heating system. A proper inspection involves checking all accessible areas of the chimney system — including the flue, firebox, smoke chamber, crown, and exterior structure — using professional tools and camera equipment. In addition, a chimney inspection helps identify early signs of damage, blockages, draft issues, and creosote buildup before they turn into costly hazards.

Just like any other major system in your home, your chimney requires periodic inspections to ensure safe operation and a reliable indoor environment.

Why Chimney Inspection Is Necessary?

Chimney inspection is necessary to detect structural issues, cracks, blockages, and creosote buildup that can compromise safety. This service reduces the risk of chimney fires, carbon monoxide leaks, smoke issues, and poor draft performance. Furthermore, inspections help prevent costly repairs by identifying minor problems early — such as deteriorating mortar joints, damaged crowns, or failing chimney liners.

A professional chimney inspection also ensures your fireplace or heating appliance operates at peak efficiency, improving airflow and extending the lifespan of the entire chimney system.

Overall, this essential maintenance supports a safer, cleaner, and more efficient home environment, protecting both your property and your family.

Our Chimney Inspection Process in 3 Steps

Step 1: Initial Assessment (Inspection Level Selection)

The technician begins by examining the chimney’s accessible areas and determining which type of inspection is required — Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 — based on the system’s condition, recent changes, or visible concerns.

Using high-quality cameras, tools, and proper lighting, we inspect the firebox, flue, smoke chamber, and exterior structure. We also test airflow and check for signs of damage, blockages, or creosote buildup.

If any mechanical issues are suspected, we evaluate the system to ensure it’s safe to continue with the inspection process.

Step 2: Detailed Internal Examination

Next, we inspect the internal components more thoroughly. This includes scanning the flue liner with a chimney camera, checking for cracks, gaps, or deterioration that can lead to draft issues or carbon monoxide leaks.

During this stage, we also evaluate the chimney cap, flashing, crown, masonry, and all accessible structural components. Any areas showing signs of wear, water penetration, or damage are documented.

If additional access points are required to complete a Level 2 or Level 3 inspection, we safely create or use existing openings to fully evaluate the chimney.

Step 3: Final Review & Report

Once the inspection is completed, the technician reviews the entire system again to ensure all areas were assessed properly. We confirm safe ventilation, structural stability, and correct functionality.

A report is then provided with photos or video (if applicable), outlining the condition of the chimney, recommended repairs, and any safety concerns. This ensures nothing is overlooked and gives homeowners full clarity on their chimney’s condition.
